Model 150-A
The humidifier must be mounted in the plenum or a vertical warm air supply duct. The
plenum or supply duct must be a minimum of 12 inches wide, 16 inches deep, and have 12
inches of vertical height space. A unit can extend across joints in the duct, however, the
locking strip of the duct must be cut back enough to clear the mounting place so it rests flat
against the duct or plenum. Air flow must travel up through humidifier.
1. MOUNTING UNIT IN PLENUM
A. If the plenum does not have an air condition coil, center template on plenum. If there IS
an air condition coil, move template off center 6 inches to either side to provide a good flow
of air through the humidifier.
Drill 3/32 inch mounting holes in template and duct. Screw template to duct as each hole is
drilled to prevent template from shifting.
Cut template and duct on broken line.
Remove template and mount humidifier.
CONNECTING WATER SUPPLY
Use ¼ inch copper tubing to connect to water supply. If water has high mineral content,
install in-line water filtration system.
INSTALLING DRAIN
There are several drain arrangements that give good results for draining the unit. In
general, the shortest run with as much drop as possible is the best. The 3 most common
methods are:
Houses with Air Conditioning: Connect drain to the CONDENSATE line by using a “TEE”
connection. Install “TEE” connection after trap in condensate drain line.
Outside Drain: Drill hole (sloped to the outside for good drainage) through outside wall
about 4 inches above ground and insert ¾ inch copper tubing. Copper tubing should not
extend more than 4 inches on the outside. Insert plastic drain tubing into copper tubing in
wall and to drain on unit. Make sure plastic drain tubing is not kinked and has a good
downward slope. Strap tubing to wall.
Laundry tube or Floor drain: Get a good downward slope and strap to wall. A short piece of
copper tubing about 6 inches long can be inserted into the end of the plastic drain tube and
formed to hook over the edge of tube. If floor drain is used, protect drain tube from traffic.
MOUNT HUMIDISTAT. See instructions furnished with humidistat.
Electrical Connections:
1. Before connecting the coil to the supply system, make sure that the characteristics
conform to the supply voltage.
2. Each coil features two terminals located opposite each other and a ground terminal. The
terminals opposite each other are used for energizing the coil and are not polarized. If a
plug-in connector is provided the terminals on the connector are marked 1 & 2.
Where applicable the ground terminal must be connected.
The coil should not be energized before being installed on the valve since this could cause it
to burn out.
Rotate the coil to the most suitable position, loosening and subsequently tightening the
upper nut.
To start your humidifier, check with the Spra-Kleen installer for instructions as the procedure
varies with the region in which you live.
Because all homes differ, there is no standard setting. Adjust the control to obtain the
amount of humidity that is comfortable for you. When the outdoor temperature gets colder,
the percentage of indoor humidity must be lowered to prevent condensation forming. This
can be done automatically with a VISIONPRO Thermostat. Too much humidity can be
harmful to your home.
If you plan to be away from your home for several days, turn the humidistat to “OFF” or a very
low setting. This will prevent excessive condensation if the outdoor temperature should
become much colder. Turn the humidifier “OFF” in the summer.
Your Spra-Kleen humidifier should operate adequately for 3 years but we recommend an
annual inspection. If the unit needs cleaning, turn off the electrical connection, shut off the
water and remove the unit from the duct. Remove the filter hood and spray nozzle and clean
or replace. Parts are available at a nominal price through your dealer.
It is recommended you inspect your Spra-Kleen once a year. Usually this is done when you
service your furnace in the fall.
Turn off power and water to unit.
Replace in-line water filter if needed.
Disconnect electric wire, water line and drain hose.
Remove unit from plenum.
Inspect filter to see if it needs replacing. If so, remove the two bolts from humidifier frame.
Remove filter.
Clean unit, frame and drain pan.
If replacing nozzle, replace at this time.
Install new filter and new bolts.
Use a 1” putty knife to push filter into frame.
Push down on filter and punch hole for screws with a nail.
Install unit in duct and reconnect electric, water line and drain hose.
Turn on.
Turn on heating system and turn humidistat to the highest setting to check humidifier for
proper operation.
Model 200-A
The humidifier must be mounted in the bottom of a horizontal warm air supply duct. The duct
may have a slight incline providing that the “Tee” drain connection is at the lower end of the
unit. The air duct must be a minimum of 16 inches wide, 7 inches deep, and 16 inches long..
A unit can extend across joints in the duct, however, the locking strip of the duct must be cut
back enough to clear the flange of the humidifier pan so that it rests flat against the duct.
1. Mount humidifier in duct.
A. Center template on duct.
B. Cut template and duct on broken line. This cut must be accurate. See hints below.*
C. Remove template and mount humidifier into duct. NOZZLE MUST POINT TOWARD
FURNACE.
2. CONNECTING WATER SUPPLY
Use ¼ inch copper tubing to connect to water supply. A saddle valve is supplied for this. If
water has high mineral content, install in-line water filtration system.

MOUNT HUMIDISTAT. See instructions furnished with humidistat.
Electrical Connections: All wiring must comply with local electrical code.
1. Before connecting the coil to the supply system, make sure that the characteristics
conform to the supply voltage.
2. Each coil features two terminals located opposite each other and a ground terminal. The
terminals opposite each other are used for energizing the coil and are not polarized. If a plug-

Rotate the coil to the most suitable position, loosening and subsequently tightening the upper
nut.
I. . Test drain line. If water does not immediately pass through drain line check for
kinks or high spots. It may be necessary to increase the slope of the line. Proper drainage is
required or water will collect in humidifier pan. Adjust the control to
obtain the amount of humidity that is comfortable for you. When the outdoor temperature gets
colder, the percentage of indoor humidity must be lowered to prevent condensation forming.
This can be done automatically with a VISIONPRO Thermostat. Too much humidity can be

II. Your Spra-Kleen humidifier should operate adequately for 3 years but we
recommend an annual inspection. If the unit needs cleaning, turn off the electrical
connection, shut off the water and remove the unit from the duct. Remove the filter and spray
nozzle and clean or replace. Parts are available at a nominal price through your dealer.
*HINTS: (1) Cut hole in duct 3/8-1/2 inch smaller on all sides and bend in at 90 degrees for
extra support. (2) Use screw gun for mounting—or drill 4 corner mounting holes with
template in place prior to cutting hole. Remove template after cutting hole, mount unit with
corner screws, then drill remaining holes. (3) With an incline in the duct, the “Tee” drain may
need to be moved for proper drainage.
It is recommended you inspect your Spra-Kleen once a year. Usually this is done when you
service your furnace in the fall.
Turn off power and water to unit.
Disconnect electric wire, water line and drain hose.
Remove unit from duct.
Inspect filter to see if it needs replacing. If so, remove the two bolts from humidifier frame.
Remove filter.
Clean unit, frame and drain pan.
If replacing nozzle, replace at this time. Be careful not to over tighten the nozzle/adapter as this
could damage the pipe fitting. Use plumbers goop to seal.
Install new filter and new bolts. Fold filter in on sides around frame and punch hole with nail
for screw and nut then fold top flap down.
Install unit in duct and reconnect electric, water line and drain hose.
Turn on.
Turn on heating system and turn humidistat to the highest setting to check humidifier for
proper operation.
If you have a Model 200 with a backwash valve, the backwash valve should be kept closed at
all times except when backwashing the unit. To operate the backwash valve, open valve ¼
turn for three seconds, then close valve. Repeat 3 to 4 times once a month.
