FAQ
Q: Will the nozzle clog and do you get white mineral dust in the house?
A: The nozzle will not clog if you use the proper orifice for your area.  Nozzles come
in various sizes from .5 (half gallon of water per hour) to 1.5 (one and a half
gallons of water per hour).  The standard nozzle orifice is 1.00 (one gallon per
hour).  Be sure you check with your contractor for the proper size nozzle for your
area.  Mineral dust will not be spread throughout your house, but if you have a
mineral issue with the water in your area, then we recommend you install a water
filtration system in-line before the water going into your unit to prevent mineral
build-up in the Spra-Kleen.  This lengthens the time between routine maintenance
from one year to every 3-5 years.

Q: How much water drains off?
A: The average drain off for a 4 bedroom home in January is between 6 and 8
gallons per day.  This is also determined by the size nozzle you use.

Q: Does the unit restrict air flow?
A: No noticeable amount of restriction occurs.

Q: Will the drain hose clog?
A: We have never had a drain hose clog.  The hose will turn dark after several
weeks of use, but this is mainly from dust that has been captured by the filter
chamber and drained off.

Q: Is annual maintenance recommended?
A: Yes, we recommend that when the furnace is serviced, the Spra-Kleen should
be checked to make sure there are no mineral deposits forming inside the unit or
on the nozzle.  If there is excessive mineral deposits, then we recommend you
install a water filter on the water line leading to the Spra-Kleen.  If not, just clean
the filter and/or nozzle with a wire brush and metal cleaner (vinegar and water can
be used) and return the unit to its original location.  Be sure to disconnect the
water and electrical source first!  See owner's manual for instructions on unit
maintenance.

Q: Can a hot water feed be used?
A: Yes, this is recommended for heat pumps and in "cold" houses where
temperatures are kept on the low side.  The Spra-Kleen is one of the few
humidifiers that can provide adequate humidity for heat pump homes.

Q: Can the unit be mounted in the return air duct?
A: We do not recommend this since the colder return air will not absorb as much
humidity as supply air.  The opening on the humidifier must always be mounted in
the direction of the air flow.  See installation instructions that come with the unit.
